Notice To All Aviators IG membersImportant updates due to COVID-19
With effects from 14 April 2022, mask wearing will continue to be required for indoor setttings . The 1-Metre safe distancing between individuals will no longer be required in mask-on settings(e.g. classrooms and laboratories). For indoor classes and activities (including sports), please be reminded that masks may be taken off only when performing strenuous physical activity or as part of a class requirement, and will have to be put on after the completion of such strenuous physical activity/ class and during rest breaks You are reminded to comply with the SMM at all times. On the 20th of May 2022, Aviators Interest Group, organised the orientation event for the new members of AIG to give them an introduction to the IG, and allow the new members to meet one another , and have a rough understanding on how the IG works, and members were introduced to the new EXCO members, ground rules, and the different activities they can look forward to and lastly, get a glimpse of the DA40 Simulator!

Industry Talk - Bell Helicopters with Captain Sean MahOn the 6th of December 2021, Aviators Interest Group has kindly invited Captain Sean Mah for a Helicopter Pilot talk. Captain Sean Mah is one of Singapore’s most experienced Helicopter Pilot and has clocked in almost 8,000 Flight Hours. He has also trained the Thai Royal Police and worked with the Malaysian Air Force.

It was the first time a batch of students from Republic Polytechnic visiting the Youth Flying Centre, Our members gets the chance to discover more about the flying club and also get to walk around its facilities.

Drone Session 1On 20 September 2019, Members in our IG went outdoors to try flying drones. The session was formerly organised by Aerodrome IG, which merged with Aviators IG in 2019. More Drone Sessions will be hosted as a regular event.

Haite Training Centre VisitOn 20 September 2019, Aviators IG visited Haite Training Centre at Changi Business Park, the members get a chance to try out the simulators and learn more about the flight training process at the centre.

APATS Conference Session 2019On 4 September 2019, some of our Aviators IG members and a group of students from the School Of Engineering get the chance to the APATS 2019 SECA Conference where experts in the Aviation industry share their experiences with the RP students who had the opportunity to start a conversation with the experts to get more in-depth knowledge about the career path in aviation.

Microsoft Flight Simulator SessionsOn 7 & 8 August 2019, Aviators IG has organised sessions where the members can familiarize with the controls of the aircrafts and the process of taking off and landing using the flight simulators.

Upcoming Meeting Plans/ActivitiesPilot Sharing Session with Captain James Hubbard & Captain Faris Dear Members, Aviators IG is pleased to organise a pilots talk by Captain James Hubbard & Captain Faris. This is a very rare opportunity to attend a sharing session by a pilot!🥳🥳 Date: 25th November 2022, Fri Time: 4:30pm-5:30pm Venue: MS Teams Background Details of Captain James Hubbard: Captain James hubbard has been a Certfied Flight Instructor(CFI) at Recreational pilot academy for 20 years and thought over hundreds, probably thousands of pilot which becoming commercial pilots, CFI, FI. He has loads of experience in both flying and aerospace engineering/ aircraft maintenance and repairing. He is a highly respected flight instructor amongst the flight school there. He can fly a lot of different types of aircraft. However he primarily flies the J160c(the one at arch) and jabiru 120 LSA. Background details of Captain Faris: Owner of Aeroviation, started up the flight school only less than 5 years ago and he manages and train students to become future pilots! Sharing Session: Captain James Hubbard and Captain Faris will be sharing on: -The route they took to become a pilot -Responsibilities of a pilot -Skills and Qualities needed for a pilot.
